Welcome to Karakulia Weavers.
I would like to take you on a special tour through our creative workshop where you will enjoy watching the carding, spinning, dyeing and weaving of pure karakul wool into rugs, carpets and wall hangings.
Absorb the atmosphere of our dedicated team of men and women. |
| Many of the weavers have been blessed with a natural artistic flair while others have developed their skill through sheer hard work to produce wonderful pieces of hand-woven art.
There is practically no design we cannot weave, whether it is your own, those of well known local artists, ethnic Namibian, modern impressionistic, abstract geometric or scenes from the Namibian landscape, its flora and wildlife, company logos, family crests and children's paintings. |

Karakulia was established in 1979 with the idea of being creative, giving employment, and producing a product that people would hopefully be delighted to purchase.
As the demand for our hand-woven articles increased, we were able to purchase more looms, train and employ more weavers - including some disabled people - and today we are a closely woven family of some fifty members.
We not only continue training in the craft itself, but also in office and computer work, management skills and design. A housing project has been started and 16 members are now in the process of becoming proud home members. |
| Over the years Karakulia has built up an international reputation due to the many overseas visitors calling at our workshops and our participation in exhibitions throughout the world.
Our forwarding department also prides itself in efficiently despatching parcels to our customers world-wide.
We also have a retail outlet in Swakopmund. |
